The Laodicean Church

I have heard several pastors say that the church is always one step behind the world. So when it was good for the world to listen to jazz or rock music (and it was not always), the church opposed it based, somewhat, upon the belief that it influenced young people to be rebellious and licentious. But today, the church has not only endorsed rock music by buying albulms sold under Christian bands as well as secular bands but it has incorporated rock music into the church service in order to increase their church membership.

Similarly, churches have adapted to the world's view that women should be able to take any and every position men have access to despite what scripture says. So, in many churches, you will encounter women standing behind the podium preaching the word of G-d. However, what sort of influence do they have on their congregation? How much trust can you put in a person to tell the truth to you when they have already disgarded a truth of Scripture, the truth that men should be the deacons and the bishops?

The church's next step into apostacy has been its acceptance homosexual laymen. Although it currently is in its fringe-movement with the Episcopalian's Gene Robinson, I have no doubt that it will be adopted by other major churches within the United States.

But why has this happened? Why has the church degenerated in such a way as to adopt the patterns of the world? In order to seek and attract more people to the Christian religion would be the major response asked of anyone whose church engages in such practices. The church has begun to magnify men instead of magnify the L-rd Jesus Christ. Man has become the center of attention and love. The greatest command to love the L-rd your G-d has been replaced with love your neighbor as yourself. Man has taken the place of G-d in these churches. As such, it can become acceptable to change church doctrines to fit the desires and wishes of the congregation and secular community, which has contributed to recent actions of the Episcopalian church.

If this method of attracting men to Christ continues, there will be no Christ in Christianity and no Christian doctrines as the bible indicates. All we will be left with is a shell of the bride of Christ, with no witness.

2003 Top Ten Campus Follies

Though this is a little late for the new year, I found a list of the top ten campus follies of 2003. I found it interesting that the University of Arizona's President Linkins made the list at #7 with his letter forbidding the throwing of tortillas at graduation since it was offensive to minorities.

Although it might not make the list, I am sure that this might qualify for a list of one sort or another.
